The FP&A Analyst provides analytical support to various departments throughout the Society. This position provides reports and analysis to the programs to facilitate tracking of performance metrics.


Essential Duties and Functions:


  • Create monthly reports to track key performance metrics for various programs.
  • Help program managers understand and use the data provided.
  • Become an expert on reporting from Society systems and develop a comprehensive understanding of how data flows through the organization.


Analytical Support

  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and insight to help program managers make key decisions that have a financial impact.


Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist with developing the annual budget as needed
  • Develop financial forecasts for particular programs


Customer Service

  • Form solid working relationships with team members across the organization, particularly program managers whom the Analyst advises and assists.
  • Practice and encourage the humane treatment of animals.
  • Provide quality customer service to clients, volunteers, and staff while actively promoting our mission, services, programs and events.
  • Promote donation and giving opportunities as appropriate.



  • Work cooperatively with all volunteers and recognize the talent and commitment they bring to the Society.



  • Ensure a safe work environment; following all safety guidelines and modeling safe work practices.
  • Take immediate action to address any safety concerns that could put a staff member, volunteer, client, animal, or the organization at risk.
  • Maintain a clean, healthy, and sanitary work area; follow all pest and rodent control protocols. Participate in keeping the SF SPCA campus clean and well maintained.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office setting within an animal shelter and veterinary care facility
  • Regularly sits at a computer station, reviews reports on a computer screen, and repetitively enters data.
  • Typically stands, bends, stoops, and crouches while filing documents manually.
  • May require considerable overtime and weekend work especially during busy season.
  • Consistently exposed to animals in the workplace and animal allergens under conditions with limited alternatives available


Reporting Relationships and Contacts:

Reports to the Chief Financial Officer


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two to four years experience in a highly analytical role
  • Health care experience desirable

  • Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of the San Francisco SPCA
  • Ability to structure an analysis, determine data needs, obtain and verify data and present results that are understandable to a non-technical manager
  • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and organizational ability
  • Able to form good working relationships with peers and superiors across departments and across the organization
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technological aptitude, particularly Microsoft Excel expertise.
  • Ability to learn reporting systems rapidly and to understand database systems


Salary and Benefits:

The annual salary for this position is $55,000.
